They Shall Be Called the Restorer of Paths to Dwell In!
Some time ago, as I was reading the 58th chapter of Isaiah, when I had gone past verse 12, the Lord told me to back up and read it again. When I did, he said, “This is you!”
Isaiah 58:12 And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
When we acquired the historic church in Dade City, Florida, there were breaches in the walls, the floors, the windows. I had heard the history of the previous churches that occupied the building, some good, and some very bad. The one that occupied the church before us was warned by another prophet that if they did not amend their ways, they would be standing on the outside, looking in, and not one would remain. They did NOT repent, and that prophecy became true.
But the foundational church was built for the honor and glory of GOD. They had been long gone, and the building was in shambles. When GOD had me reread that passage, He was not only speaking of the former generations of the physical church, but the principles and purposes of HIS CHURCH!
Those that would be of me shall build the old waste places. The building had been vacated, and no ministry existed there. GOD WANTED IT RESTORED! He knew I could NOT do it alone! Together we would RAISE UP the foundation of many generations: physically in this building, and spiritually in the ministry of Prophetic Light! Restorer of paths to walk in are the OLD PATHS. We are always looking for something new, innovative, enticing! While doing so we eliminate the TRIED and TRUE! GOD is the Ancient of Days!
Jeremiah 6:16: Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.
Because the church has LOST its power and impact on the lost and dying world, it has stooped to programs, performance, telling stories, entertainment, showmanship, games, and gimmicks. It gained appeal to the world, but LOST the GLORY OF GOD! Essentially it became a social gathering rather than a place of worship. Lives were NOT changed, people were not healed, and the feel-good gospel did not Work to transform lives. It did not display the powerful Word of GOD that heals, repairs, revives, restores, renews, transforms!
God said He would build HIS CHURCH, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it [Matthew 16:18]. His church is to be a glorious church, without spot, wrinkles, blemishes, uncompromising, unchanging, undeniably powerful.
God wants to Revive and RESTORE HIS CHURCH, in signs, wonders, miracles, healing, deliverance, power, and GLORY!
The setting of this historic church is a perfect prophetic sign of what GOD wants to do in HIS CHURCH! He wants to RESTORE! Restore paths to walk on. Restore faith. Restore power. Restore HIS glory in HIS CHURCH. He has called me to this ministry of Restoration!
Together we can build the old waste place. We can raise up the foundations of many generations. We can repair the breaches, and restore paths to dwell in, in this place. It is a HUGE TASK with a HIGH CALLING for the GLORY OF GOD!
God is in this place. His glory is undeniably here with us. He could have chosen a cathedral, but he chose this Historic Church. Jesus could have been born in a palace rather than a stable. He could have used a beautiful church rather than the stable at Azusa Street to pour out His Spirit and send revival to the nations. He could have chosen any number of persons. He chose me. He chose us. He chose this place. He chose those who are WITH ME, to do the awesome, the unbelievable, the extraordinary!
They that be of thee SHALL BUILD the old waste places! It did not say, they can or they might! THEY SHALL..
As we begin again to RESTORE this historic landmark for the glory of GOD, the work goes FORWARD. NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD, and together we can! The roof project is huge. But it is not bigger than GOD! The restoration will be done, because this is the will of GOD for this place.
